The process of parotid removal is called as parotidectomy – surgical excision of the gland – the major and largest of the salivary glands. The procedure is most typically performed due to the neoplasm or tumors that are growths of rapidly and abnormally dividing cells. Neoplasms can be benign or non-cancerous and malignant or cancerous.
